Qualifications

  • Valid Class 2 Learners permit with air brake endorsements required.
  • Ability to assist passengers with disabilities and perform vehicle inspections.

Job description

Transdev Canada is hiring a Conventional Bus Driver for our Duncan location

Your role

  • Drives one of several different transit or company non-revenue vehicles in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area within a daily assigned time schedule.
  • Maintains a strong attendance record.
  • Performs pre/post-trip vehicle inspections as required.
  • Possess a functional knowledge of the demographics of the service area.
  • Stops at designated points to load and/or unload passengers.
  • Assists in the boarding of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids and is required to properly secure wheelchairs and scooters.
  • Notifies dispatch of deviations, overload, accidents, passenger incidents, medical/behavioral problems, or bus mechanical/electrical trouble.
  • Ensures that fares are deposited into the fare box and dispenses information. Advises passengers of rules and regulations when necessary.
  • Completes and submits written reports concerning passengers and all accidents.
  • Assumes any and all other duties assigned.

Your profile

  • You have a valid Class 2 Learners permit and air brake endorsements, or equivalent.
  • You have a clear driver abstract and adherence to safety regulations.
  • You have the ability to assist passengers with disabilities and mobility devices.
  • You have the physical ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections and assist passengers.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • You possess the ability to read, write and speak English.
  • You are able to pass vulnerable records check and drug/alcohol testing.

Additional Information

  • This is a casual unionized position.
  • There is a requirement to work on shifts from 4 to 10 hours per week.
  • Minimum 2-hour call in + stand-by work.
  • Various start/end times Sunday to Saturday.
