Job description

Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff, and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About The Role

We are seeking a Transfusion Medicine Nurse Specialist Supervisor to join our Medical Laboratory & Stem Cell Services team. This team supports medical activities related to blood and stem cell services, including donor assessment, product support, and related programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and lead medical services operations and programs
  • Provide expertise to physicians and support medical practices
  • Develop and promote best practices in transfusion medicine
  • Coordinate with hospitals and health authorities
  • Develop training and educational programs
  • Participate in scientific conferences and act as a medical representative
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Nursing; a degree is preferred
  • Registration with the provincial College of Registered Nurses
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of transmissible diseases and blood transfusion processes
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Experience with computer systems and software such as MS Office 365
