Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
This position transcribes dictations received from all areas of the hospital and promotes data quality by ensuring compliance with standards and guidelines within the Health Information Services Department.

QUALIFICATIONS
•Completion of a post-secondary diploma in office administration - health services or medical transcription
•Medical terminology certificate
•Minimum one year experience in a centralized transcription environment in a Health Records Department required
•Demonstrated ability to transcribe dictation from a wide range of medical services, exhibiting accuracy and productivity required
•Understanding and application of confidentiality principles required
•Basic skill level required for MS Word and Excel
•Intermediate skill level is required for medical spelling, medical terminology, and spelling
•Clerical testing may be required as part of the selection process
•Typing speed must be at an advanced skill level
•Accuracy and attention to detail is required
•Experience with health information systems preferred
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
•Ability to work under pressure with time constraints
•Excellent auditory, eye and hand coordination
•Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain cooperating working relationships and a team approach to workload issues
•Handles difficult situations tactfully and professionally
•Excellent work performance and an excellent attendance record are also required

WAGE RATE
Hourly: $28.87....$30.14....$31.37
(plus 14% in lieu of benefits)
