Job summary

Johnson Electric in Ancaster, ON is seeking a Training & Development Co-op Student onsite. You will support the creation and maintenance of Standard Work Instructions and training materials across manufacturing and administrative areas, collaborating with operators, supervisors, engineers, and SMEs to capture best practices.

You will ensure all training content meets safety, quality, and compliance standards while tracking progress in the ETQ system and contributing to continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program.
  • Experience creating or updating documentation is an asset.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in both office and production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, revise, and maintain SWIs for manufacturing, administrative, and training processes.
  • Partner with operators, supervisors, engineers, and SMEs to document standard work and best practices.
  • Observe tasks and production processes to capture step-by-step instructions.
  • Ensure training documentation aligns with safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Create and update training materials and resources.
  • Track training completion records and updates in ETQ system.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on training effectiveness and documentation quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Join Our Team as a Training & Development Co-op Student at Johnson Electric! Location: Ancaster, ON (Onsite) Vacancy Type: Co-op/Internship Placement Schedule: Day Shift Travel: Minimal Relocation: Not Available

As our next Training & Development Co-op Student, you'll play a key role in supporting employee training and development across our Ancaster facility. Working closely with operators, supervisors, engineers, and subject matter experts, you will help develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), training materials, and documentation that promote safety, quality, consistency, and operational excellence.

What You'll Be Doing:

What We're Looking For:
  • Education and/or Experience: Currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program.
  • Experience (preferred but not required): Previous experience in a manufacturing or quality environment is an asset. Experience creating or updating documentation, work instructions, training materials, or process maps is preferred.
  • Language Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, including shop-floor personnel and leadership.
  • Work Environment (including Physical Demands): Combination of office and production floor environments. May require standing, walking, or working near machinery. Production areas can be noisy and subject to varying temperatures. Must follow all Health & Safety guidelines and wear required PPE when on the production floor. Occasional overtime or flexible hours may be required.
