Johnson Electric in Mississauga, ON seeks a Junior P&PD Engineer Co-op. The role supports engineering activities across new and existing product lines at Plant 1, onsite in Mississauga.

Campus-level candidates in manufacturing engineering will gain hands-on experience with tooling, processes, and production teams. Ideal candidates are third or fourth year Manufacturing Engineering students with problem-solving skills and a drive for continuous improvement; automotive or similar manufacturing

Qualifications

• Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing settings.
• Self-motivated with initiative to resolve recurrent issues using data and resources.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and implementation of processes, part development and equipment selection/installation.
• Support recommendations to tooling, plant equipment and prototypes to enable economical manufacturing and meet performance specs.
• Participate in production meetings to address Quality, Service, Operations, Facilities, HR and Health & Safety issues as needed.
• Serve as a technical resource to HR, processes, products and equipment in the assigned area.
• Contribute toward goals of producing quality parts on time and at lowest possible cost.
• Assist in developing standardized work in accordance with Johnson Electric Mississauga policies.
• Communicate progress to Production and other departments regarding technological advances.
• Ensure compliance with Quality and EHS Policies including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.

Location: Mississauga, ON, Canada (onsite) Salary Range: $22-$24 per hour Vacancy Type: Co-op Position Schedule: Full-time, Day shift Relocation: Not Applicable Travel: Minimal As our next Junior P&PD Engineer Co-op, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting engineering activities and initiatives at JEC Mississauga -Plant 1 focusing on the development of new and existing product lines. The position requires creativity, flexibility and initiative to resolve recurrent issues through the application of resources combined with the gathering and analysis of available data.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Active participation in the development and implementation of processes, part development and equipment selection / installation.
• Provide assistance in the recommendation of modifications to tooling, plant equipment and prototypes in development, to permit economical manufacturing; or to meet performance specifications and the requirements of serviceability.
• Support and participate in production team meetings to review and resolve Quality, Service, Operations, Facilities, Human Resources and Health & Safety issues when required.
• Be a technical resource and support to the human resources, processes, products and equipment employed within the area to which you may be assigned on a day-to-day basis.
• Contribute towards meeting the goals of producing quality parts, on-time and at the lowest possible cost.
• Assist in the development of Standardized work Work in compliance with JEC Mississauga, Quality and HSE policies and procedures.
• Communicate with the Production and other Departments on a regular basis to keep them well informed of the progress in technological advances made within the scope of this position.
• Work in compliance with JEC Mississauga Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures, including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Accomplished problem solving skills.

• Self motivated and experienced in leading continuous improvement initiatives in all aspects of the business.
• Background in automotive or similar manufacturing environments preferred.
