Job Description
Our client is currently seeking an Automotive Technical Training Developer. Product Service Training develops and deploys training to assist Automotive Dealership Technicians in diagnosing and repairing various vehicle subsystems through a blended training model that includes: Virtual Classroom Training, Web-Based Training, and Hands-On Classroom Training.
Our team’s mission is to develop portable skills via a structured diagnostic process. As a member of our team, your responsibilities include:
- Analyzing and researching training opportunities
- Selecting appropriate training mediums within the Blended Training Model
- Collaborating throughout the training development process
- Developing packaged training courses to support various curriculums
- Researching and developing repeatable vehicle faults and creating supporting documentation
- Presenting and deploying training at College Training Centres (Train the Trainer Seminars) to meet training objectives
- Coaching and serving as a technical resource for Training Centre Instructors
- Updating current training courses to reflect technological advancements
- Remaining current in Automotive Technology
- Collaborating with the US Training Team on global projects
- Transferring and publishing French Assets
- Understanding and simplifying complex vehicle systems
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- An Automotive Technician license with hands-on experience (preferably)
- Knowledge of processes and software applications
- Familiarity with current automotive technology
- Ability to understand and develop training on automotive diagnosis and repair processes
- Interpretation skills for engineering documentation (Descriptions of Operation, Schematics)
- Critical thinking attributes and innovative training approach
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Graphics and design skills (Photoshop or equivalent)
- Process orientation with attention to detail
- Open-mindedness to alternative theories and processes
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
The Work Environment:
- Work involves a mix of remote work and onsite work at a fully equipped garage within the Oshawa Assembly plant, with vehicle access
- Driving manufacturer vehicles may be required for course development
- Contract Worker Shutdown days
- Dynamic daily responsibilities and responsibilities management
- Program development, research, and addressing content issues in training centers
- Creating and supporting course content for technicians across 12 training centers nationwide
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience/training
- 2-4 years of related experience as a developer; licensed technician with at least 5 years of trade experience
Top 3 must-have hard skills:
- Strong experience in critical thinking and effective communication
- Creative troubleshooting skills considering teaching and budget limitations
- Comfort with presenting projects and accepting constructive criticism
