Licensed Technician

Reporting to: Lead Head/Service Manager

Department: Service

Location: Mississauga, ON

Job Status: Full Time – Permanent

Shift: Mon – Fri 6:00am -3:00pm or 6:30am – 3:30pm

Transportation Equipment Network (TEN) is a proud North American leader in transportation equipment and solutions. We are full-service with a diverse fleet of over 80,000 trailers, supported by 240 service bays, 118 mobile service trucks, and 430+ skilled mechanics.

As a Licensed Technician in our Mississauga branch, you will be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of company and customer equipment, including Dry Vans, Reefers, Heaters, Flat beds, Chassis, specialized equipment haulers, livestock haulers, tankers, and company-owned service vehicles.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assess, diagnose, and repair equipment, ensuring quality work and fixing it right the first time.
  2. Complete work orders accurately and legibly.
  3. Report damages, suspected chargebacks, or additional work to the Lead Hand or Service Manager.
  4. Verify completion details such as parts, VIN plate, work performed, tire work, potential damage, engine hours, measurements, retorque tags, and sign off upon completion.
  5. Perform yard shunt duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to health and safety at all times.
  • Understanding and adherence to core values and company policies.
  • Valid provincial trade certification or equivalent competency.
  • Knowledge of shop safety principles.
  • Interest and aptitude for mechanical work.
  • Ability to read manuals and directives.
  • Basic knowledge of ABS diagnostic software.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Team player attitude.
  • Ability to lift up to 85 lbs.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, sit, bend, reach, and communicate effectively.
  • Visual acuity including near, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Exposure to noise, vibration, grease, oil, gasoline, exhaust fumes, and odors.
