Status: Casual Seasonal position, schedules are job specific. Days, evenings, weekend shifts. Overtime hours available. This is a non-union position.

This position will be based in Ontario and will be working on projects throughout the province. The ability to travel is essential.

About the Positions

ATS Traffic is urgently recruiting for a Traffic Control Person (also known as TCP or Traffic Technician) to join our branch in Ottawa! Do you enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather? Are you motivated, hardworking, and looking for a new opportunity? If so, consider joining ATS Traffic's On-Street Services team as a TCP!

You will be responsible for conducting traffic control around cities, construction sites, and major events such as music festivals or sporting events. TCP designs safe lane closures and traffic detours with physical setup and removal of devices such as barricades, pylons, signage, and digital messaging boards.You will also be responsible for assisting on a variety of outdoor installation projects such as roadside signage both large and small, guardrail and cable barrier, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Installation of permanent and temporary Traffic Safety equipment for customers
  • Create and set up work zones according to plan;
    • Physical setup and removal of devices such as barricades, pylons, signage, digital messaging boards, and AFADs
  • Assist with all aspects of on-site rental equipment including drop-off and pick-ups for customers
  • Complete required documentation of delivery/returned equipment
  • Assist with a large variety of outdoor installation projects from roadside signage to the guardrail and cable barriers
  • Operate a TMA Truck for use on high-speed roadways
  • Ensure ATS work vehicles are in good, clean working condition daily
  • Assisting with equipment maintenance (arrow boards, message boards, etc.)
  • Conduct traffic control/flagging as needed
Qualifications
  • A valid GraduatedClass G Driver’s License and a Clean 3-Year Regular Drivers Abstract are required to drive our company vehicles. Class DZ license is preferred for TMA operators.
  • Approximately 1 year's progressive experience in the Traffic industry is an asset; preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Own vehicle to get to and from work is required. Previous experience operating one-ton flat-deck trucks is an asset!
  • As this is a safety-sensitive role, all candidates must undergo and pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Test.
  • Ability to lift between 50 and 75 pounds.
  • A valid Traffic Control Person (Book 7) ticket is an asset, however,ATS covers the cost and providesALL training and tickets to get you started!
  • Previous construction experience ,as well as hand/power tool proficiency, is anasset .
