Job description

RK&K is seeking a highly motivated Traffic Engineer with 7 to 10 years of experience, including extensive knowledge of work zone traffic control. RK&K offers high-profile services through various traffic engineering contracts for diverse clients. The role demands expertise in safety-focused work zone traffic control, compliance with federal and state mandates, and technological enhancements for work zone operations. As a Traffic Engineer, you will collaborate with a talented team and utilize advanced software and platforms to execute critical projects.

Essential Functions

1. Perform traffic engineering research to analyze work zone traffic control methodologies, principles, products, and applications.
2. Develop work zone policies, guidelines, and engineering standards to improve safety and efficiency.
3. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to evaluate and improve existing work zone standards and traffic control plans.
4. Review and develop maintenance of traffic plans for major projects, considering workers, vehicles, and vulnerable road users.
5. Design and implement ITS work zone applications to enhance traveler information through technology.
6. Assist with Speed Safety Camera programs, including management, implementation, and vendor coordination.
7. Conduct site visits, field investigations, and monitor speed safety camera installations.

Required Skills and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
2. P.E. license.
3. 7-10 years of traffic engineering experience, especially in work zones.
4. Strong communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with data-driven decision-making abilities.
6. In-depth knowledge of work zone traffic control strategies, MUTCD, and relevant standards.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Project management and coordination experience.
2. Familiarity with state and local traffic standards.
