A leading engineering firm in Ottawa is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to join their Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering group. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting transportation impact assessments, traffic analyses, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on various projects. Strong problem-solving skills and at least 8 years of relevant experience, preferably with Canadian projects, are essential. Our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering (TPTE) group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services and we have an immediate opening for a Traffic Engineer to be an integral part of our team.
As a Traffic Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation projects. While working as a technical team member, you may provide immediate supervision and guidance to junior employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness, and maintaining tasks’ schedule and budget with high-level supervision of an assigned senior staff or the TPTE lead. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver who takes initiative with demonstrated knowledge and experience in engineering and planning projects, understanding of regulatory requirements, excellent communication skills including technical writing and presentation skills, and demonstrated experience with transportation planning, data analysis and modelling. Your work will include a variety of projects including traffic analysis, functional/concept planning & design, and active transportation planning & design. Position will be full-time hybrid employment.
Ottawa’s TPTE team uses a hybrid working environment, with a minimum of one day in office expected from all team members. Some travel may be required, such as site visits, delivering plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients or to attend meetings. May visit study areas, construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.
