The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is a national, nonprofit organization established in 1929 by a special Act of Parliament to oversee the medical education of specialists in Canada. Today, the Royal College has over 55,000 members and the vision remains to advance the learning for specialist physicians to deliver the best health care for all. The Royal College partners with patients, Fellows, residents, and other health care collaborators to lead specialty medical education through setting standards, assessment, and enabling continuous learning so that we can provide the best care possible for patients.

Reporting to the manager of Language Services, your primary function is to translate and revise from English to French various types of specialized medical content including different specialized medical components and specialty standards and other content featuring medical terminology. As such, you will be expected to be incredibly versatile and to adapt to organizational needs.

Here's an insight into your typical day to day

  • You will be responsible for translating and revising from English to French various documents.
  • You will ensure the consistent use of terminology, as well as the application of internal standards and clients' preferences.
  • You will perform quality assurance verifications to ensure accuracy of translated versions before final deliveries.
  • You will liaise with stakeholders, colleagues, and external services to provide advice and guidance on linguistics-related questions.
  • You will occasionally attend virtual meetings for information purposes.

Does this sound like you?

  • Level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a degree in translation or a degree in the medical / scientific field with a specialization in translation from English to French
  • Five years or more of proven experience in medical / life science / pharmaceutical content translation and revision from English to French
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • In-depth knowledge of theory and practices of translation, revision, proofreading and terminology research
  • Excellent organizational skills, an ability to observe multiple deadlines and to work independently or as a part of a team
  • Clear, concise, and effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of Computer Assisted Translation tool
  • Certification in translation or willingness to obtain it, an asset

Band 6 - Salary ranges from $67,670.00 to $92,990.70
