Jardeg is seeking a highly skilled Trades Recruiter to be based in our Calgary or Edmonton locations. This is a temporary 6-month contract position, starting Mid February 2025, and will require occasional meetings in Calgary or Edmonton offices.
This position will report to the Recruitment Lead and will drive the talent attraction activities within the assigned geographic area or business line. The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for attracting quality talent with an ability to deliver results at a high volume. In addition, he/she must possess good organizational and communication skills combined with a strong customer service orientation.
Responsibilities may include:
- Responsible for the overall recruitment process from creating requisitions to hire, job postings, sourcing and screening candidates, participating in interviews, checking references, verifying background checks, and preparing offer letters for successful candidates.
- Assist in the transfers of internal staff as necessary.
- Responsible for identifying and implementing recruitment strategies to effectively source and recruit specific skill sets with external agencies such as industry associations, post-secondary institutions, and immigrant service organizations.
- Network and liaise within technical associations or the academic community to leverage contacts for sourcing specific candidates.
- Participate in the implementation of new and existing recruitment initiatives such as road shows, career fairs, targeted advertising, print material, and utilization of agencies and search firms to maximize the pool of potential candidates.
- Perform and analyze recruitment market data research against internal manpower forecasts to determine recruitment business plans and strategies.
- Maintain and update the applicant database.
- Coach and advise supervisors/managers on labour standards pertinent to staffing practices within Alberta.
- Manage the postings of all external and internal Careers Page postings.
- Report on recruitment activities and prepare & review manpower requirements with each client group.
- Work in collaboration with the leads to ensure that recruitment initiatives and processes are developed, implemented, communicated, and delivered in support of the approved Infrastructure staffing plans.
- Participate in the assessment of the needs of the business from an organizational effectiveness perspective in support of recruitment initiatives.
- Ensure the necessary tools and information packages are obtained and developed for new projects.
- Ensure all internal processes and procedures are adhered to when recruiting employees. Understand hiring manager's needs and build internal relationships. Site visits as required. Build strong relationships with the project Human Resources teams and hiring managers to ensure processes and procedures are being followed.
- Communicate and train other functional groups within the division on the Recruitment Policies and Procedures.
- Provide constant updates and reporting on recruitment strategies and plans to the Recruitment Lead/Manager to ensure alignment with manpower forecasts.
- Educate both the hiring manager and external candidates on the company’s hiring process.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned that are not otherwise captured in this position description.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Degree and minimum 3 years of directly related high-volume trades experience OR Diploma/Certificate and minimum 2 years of related experience is required.
- High volume recruiting experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication with a positive, client/candidate-focused customer service attitude.
- Must have strong negotiation and analytical skills, and the ability to make cold calls.
- Strong attention to detail, team player, work well with others, and possess organizational skills.
- Ability to change recruitment direction and priorities based on ever-changing critical needs.
- Able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Must be willing to work weekend shifts and non-standard work hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education within Human Resources or Business related fields preferred.
- CPHR or RPR preferred.
- Experience recruiting TRADE/CRAFT roles in Maintenance/Shutdown season within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Expert Computer Skills: SuccessFactors Applicant Tracking System or prior experience with an applicant tracking system is an asset.
- Solid understanding and ability to source candidates.
- Understanding of the Apprenticeship and Industrial Training system in Alberta.
