Your Role

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Scrap Metal Trader to join our team. The successful candidate will develop supplier and customer relationships, manage trades, and maximize profitability through market insights and negotiation. This role requires strong knowledge of the scrap metal industry, including grades, market trends, logistics, and compliance regulations.

The candidate will also manage their portfolio, covering all company activities including supply chain operations, in collaboration with teams such as Finance, Logistics, Operations, and Commercial Support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with scrap metal suppliers and customers (yards, industrial generators, demolition contractors, consumers, etc.)
  • Identify and close trading opportunities in domestic and international markets
  • Evaluate and optimize trade margins by identifying cost-saving opportunities in logistics, processing, and purchasing strategies
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, pricing, and industry news for profitable trading decisions
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and logistics with buyers, sellers, and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to ensure timely, compliant deliveries
  • Maintain accurate records of trades, contracts, and shipments

Required Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Administration, or relevant field
  • Experience : Proven experience in scrap metal trading or commodities sales, with knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, grades, and industry pricing. Knowledge of import / export regulations and international logistics is a plus
  • Attention to Detail : Exceptional accuracy in handling figures, units, prices, conversions, and identifying errors or anomalies, providing actionable insights in a changing environment
  • Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal skills; bilingualism required
  • Time Management : Self-motivated, able to work independently and in teams, managing multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, SharePoint, and Excel
