Position Description Summary :

Accumulate, analyze, and report on a variety of financial, operational, and/or technical data used in decision-making to develop profitable pricing strategies in the Ocean Freight Industry. Perform analysis to assess the impact on company performance from your area of expertise. Identify and implement projects to improve and automate processes. Monitor competitive activity and identify customer needs.

Principal Accountabilities :

  1. Create and update quotations using service contracts, offers from Carriers/Vendors, and by following Company’s rate guidelines.
  2. Understand pricing models and principles used for pricing decisions and business proposals.
  3. Conduct rate and cost reviews, analysis, and P&L assessments supporting intra and inter-departmental activities.
  4. Assist with procurement negotiations with Carriers/Vendors.
  5. Maintain reporting and data integrity for internal and external needs.
  6. Manage centralized Revenue Management systems/databases ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  7. Prepare data for upload into the Company’s Pricing Systems.
  8. Update and maintain service provider contract rates and surcharges in the systems.
  9. Audit pricing systems for accuracy and generate reports for management.
  10. Maintain rate summaries, commodity lists, surcharge tables, and historical data reports.
  11. Develop financial tools for customer profitability analysis and decision-making.
  12. Participate in projects to enhance yield and revenue growth.
  13. Handle special projects, reports, and projections as assigned by Management.
  14. Provide backup support within the Trade Department as needed.

Knowledge and Skills :

Business Skills : Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel at a "Power User" level, and ability to learn new applications. Capable of working independently with minimal social interaction.

Special Knowledge : 1-3 years of ocean freight industry experience, preferably in ocean freight pricing. Knowledge of ocean ports and hubs, especially in Asia and North America. Up-to-date with industry standards and market conditions. Basic programming skills (VBA, Python) and Power BI are assets.

Soft Skills : Detail-oriented, analytical, well-organized, and able to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
