Overview

We are currently looking for a dynamic and strategic Trade Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the ideal candidate aspires to work in the growing cannabis field with an award-winning team!

We’re looking for a highly motivated and organized creative thinker that is comfortable navigating the ambiguous cannabis industry. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting our cannabis field sales team and owned cannabis retail division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving retail and trade marketing initiatives that enhance brand visibility, optimize product placements, boost sales performance across various channels, and drive consumers into our owned retail stores.

The Trade Marketing Manager will collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and retail teams to develop and execute in-store promotions, merchandising strategies, and marketing campaigns. They will also provide insights to strengthen market presence and drive consumer engagement in the fast-growing cannabis industry.

Pre-existing professional commercial experience (marketing, advertising, or sales experience), with preference to those that have worked in consumer packaged goods (CPG), alcohol, cannabis or tobacco industries, is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Embody SNDL’s business mission and strategy and act in a responsible, ethical and honest behaviour while consistently leading by example.
  • Build a sound knowledge of the Cannabis industry and all applicable regulations and take initiative in being informed of the latest developments.
  • Develop and execute trade marketing plans to support field sales and retail teams.
  • Collaborate with sale and retail teams to align on key priorities, ensuring effective execution in retail environments.
  • Analyze retail performance data and provide actionable insights to optimize marketing efforts.
  • Partner with product teams to ensure product launches are supported with comprehensive retail and trade marketing campaigns.
  • Monitor industry trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to adjust strategies as needed.
  • Provide in market and competitive trade tool analysis to inform improved visibility and activation levers in retail stores.
  • Collaborate with Sales team to develop sell-in materials for new products and ensure successful product launches.
  • Manage the trade marketing budget, including reconciliation, processing, reporting and forecasting, working closely with Accounts Payable.

Requirements

  • B.A or B.Sc. degree in Business, Marketing or related field of study
  • 5+ years of brand management, sales or trade experience with a preference to individuals with high-tiered consumer packaged goods experience focused in food, alcohol, cannabis, and tobacco industries.
  • Superior communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation.
  • Expert skills in MS Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to be in office (90 Spadina Ave in Toronto or 230 Carion Rd in Kelowna) Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Commercial experience in alcohol, cannabis, or tobacco industries.
  • Proven track record of being able to navigate an organization and work with teams to deliver business results driving and delivering change.
  • Superior project management skills.
  • Proactive mindset in establishing mechanisms for preventing and eliminating business problems, and if they do arise immediately tackles and alerts others who may be impacted.
  • Consistently demonstrates strong insight into market positioning and strategy development.
  • Familiarity with cannabis regulations is an asset.
  • Bilingual in English and French would be an asset.
