Reporting to the Foreman, the Tractor Backhoe Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a tractor backhoe. This role involves using both the front bucket and back boom for various tasks, including piling aggregates, transporting materials, excavating utilities or new installations, and tamping around installation features. The operator ensures all work is completed according to contract specifications and assigned duties.

  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Use the front bucket and back boom for tasks such as piling aggregates, transporting materials, excavating utilities or new installations, and tamping around installation features
  • Perform daily maintenance, safety checks, and routine cleaning to ensure smooth and safe operation of equipment
  • Operate with ground personnel in the work area and under their direction
  • Conduct trench work in compliance with OH&S requirements
  • Utilize computerized controls and electronic systems
  • Operate additional heavy equipment as required to support project needs
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
Qualifications & Experience
  • 1+ years of experience as a tractor backhoe operator
  • Experience in the heavy civil construction industry is considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
