Whistler Sliding Centre is a world-class bobsleigh, skeleton and luge facility located above Whistler Village on the side of Blackcomb Mountain. True to its mission to grow sport, the venue is not only used for training and competition by athletes from beginner to world class level, but it is also the only place in Canada where public can try bobsleigh and skeleton to slide like an Olympian with no experience required.
Track Medical Responder (TMR)/Guest Service Host, Summer is a varied position working in all roles associated with the delivery and supervision of a safe Summer Bobsleigh Experience program at the Whistler Sliding Centre. This role rotates through all roles associated with the summer program including TMR, Guest Services, venue first aid attendant, and facilities maintenance.
Seasonal Full Time, Part Time or Casual role(s) requires the flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Track Medical Responder
• Provide first aid and accident site control according to the TMR manual or as prescribed by the leadership at the site for all on and off track needs
• Document and report all on track incidents and safety violations
• Provide occupational first aid support as required
• Participate in emergency scenario training as prescribed
• Interact in a responsible and friendly manner with all visitors, athletes, and coaches on a daily basis
• Assist operations crew in keeping venue safe, organized and presentable; including grounds, building, and road maintenance activities
• Support team to execute events and facility rentals as needed
• Foster a strong culture of health and safety; work with Human Resources, and Safety to ensure that all WorkSafeBC and BC Safety Authority requirements are met
• Assist team with other duties as assigned or required
Guest Service Host, Summer
• Interact with guests to provide high level of customer service
• Greet guests and assist them to register for the Summer Bobsleigh Experience program
• Work on a rotation with the Guest Service team in all positions within the Summer Bobsleigh Experience program – duties may include:
o Gather and process participant information and waivers
o Equipment safety inspections, e.g., helmets
o Lead program safety presentation
o Maintain radio communications with Control Tower
o Shuttle/walk participants to start and return
o Safely unload sled into ready position
o Safely load guests into sled
o Recap safety components and final check of guest equipment and comfort level
o Assist pilots at Finish Dock, and assist guests to unload safely
o Safely load sled onto truck
o Track maintenance, as assigned
• Process public sliding information requests and bookings by phone and/or email and send confirmations as directed
• Use a Point of Sale system to process rides and merchandise payments, and process end of day cash reconciliation as directed
• Track merchandise inventory and request reordering from Supervisor
• Assist in general up-keep of the Guest Services areas, including the daily set up of equipment and displays indoors and outdoors
• Proactively continue to evolve the Guest Services department to exceed guest expectations
• Safely operate a sled truck to transport sleds on venue
• Adhere to a high degree of personal hygiene, and also participation in general upkeep and cleanliness of venue/department/work or common area is expected
• Adhere to all safety standards as outlined by WSL
• Adhere to the Summer Bobsleigh Experience program procedures and protocols

Position Requirements
Education/Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current OFA Level 3 or equivalent certification such as Canadian National Ski Patrol Outdoor Emergency Care
• Previous experience as a First Aid Attendant / Responder
• BC Class 5 driver’s license required
• BC Class 4 unrestricted driver’s license an asset
• Previous Guest Service experience an asset
• Knowledge of the Whistler Sliding Centre venue and sliding sports an asset
Skills
• Excellent proven first aid skills
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written
• Detail oriented and organized with strong computer skills
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Safety conscious to ensure safety of guests, athletes, staff
• Willingness to assist other team members (perhaps outside the department) as needed/requested
• Passion for exceptional customer service is essential
Languages
• Fluency in English required
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to regularly lift 70lbs
$21.50 - $24.50 per hour dependent upon certification and experience
