Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking a dedicated Track Maintenance Foreman to oversee routine and planned track maintenance in the Niagara Region. You will lead small teams, ensure safety and quality, and coordinate inspections and repairs in line with Metrolinx and Transport Canada standards.

The role requires extensive track maintenance experience, drawings literacy, and a valid driving license. The position is full-time, with overtime potential and an hourly rate between CAD 41.00 and CAD 44.00.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Minimum of 5 years as Track Maintainer or assistant track foreman.
• Track Inspection Qualification (TIG).
• Understanding of track geometry.
• Understanding of track standards and safety requirements.
• Understanding of continuous welded rail (CWR).
• Experience in inspection, construction, and maintenance/repair of track.
• Valid Driving License.
• Able to endure repetitive physical work and lifting ~60 lbs.
• Thermite welding qualification is an asset.
• Must be able to read technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Promote Siemens safety culture and compliance with standards.
• Act as Siemens ambassador with customers, suppliers and employees.
• Report and escalate accidents/incidents; participate in investigations.
• Provide leadership and role modeling for safety, quality and efficiency.
• Perform track maintenance and repair.
• Inspect tracks per Metrolinx Standards, Best Practices, and Transport Canada Guidelines.
• Supervise and develop track maintainers and subcontractors.
• Coordinate work: spot rail, track tie replacement and other components.
• Coordinate vegetation control, crossings, and related maintenance.
• Assist geometry testing and rail flaw detection as needed.
• Provide track flagging service when required.
• Complete work, material inventory, and inspection reports.

He/she also supports emergency response and performs track inspection when required. The Track Maintenance Foreman oversees small groups of employees executing track maintenance work. This is a full-time permanent opportunity based in the Niagara Region.

Key Responsibilities and Functions

Leadership:

• Be a leader and promote Siemens’ safety culture and compliance with standards and policies;
• Be an ambassador of Siemens when interacting with customers, suppliers, and employees;
• Report and escal all accidents/incidents and participate in the incident investigation and review processes;
• Act as a role model when it comes to safety, quality of work, and efficiency of operations.

Track Work Coordination:

• Perform track maintenance and repair;
• Perform track inspection and track maintenance activities according to Metrolinx Engineering Standards, Best Practices, and Transport Canada Guidelines;
• Supervise, develop, and lead track maintainers and subcontractors to ensure quality maintenance and safe work performance;
• Coordinate and execute the work related to various maintenance activities such as: spot rail, track tie and other track component replacement; turnout component replacement and adjustment; maintenance of public and private crossings; vegetation cutting; fencing repairs;
• Interact with customers, co-workers, and subcontractors;
• Support geometry testing and rail flaw detection testing on the territory;
• Snow clearing from railway turnouts (switches) and other key track and right of way components – Winter;
• Perform Quality Control Inspections and Performance Monitoring and Rules Compliance related to track maintenance programs and other work activities;
• Implement Safety Directives and assist in the development of safety programs and goals
• Provide track flagging service as required.
• Complete work, material inventory, and inspection reports as required

Required Skills and Qualifications

Available to work on various work cycles with occasional overtime.

Hourly rate is commensurate with experience and as per CBA, and ranges between $41.00 CAD - $44.00 CAD
