Job summary

Yonge Street Mission is seeking a Logistics & Operations Assistant (Toy Market) to support planning and delivery of its annual Christmas Toy Market in Toronto. The role involves coordinating toy donations, pickups, deliveries, and inventory across Martin Centre and Davis Centre, ensuring smooth operations for a dignified, joyful event.

The 6-week, part-time contract runs from November 16 to December 24, 2026, with 25–37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in event coordination, logistics, or related field.
• Experience with volunteers and diverse communities is an asset.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail).
• Ability to lift and move boxes weighing approximately 25–30 lbs. and assist with setup/teardown.
• Flexible, reliable with a commitment to YSM’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating toy donation pickups and drop-offs by confirming arrangements with donors and communicating details to relevant YSM teams.
• Supporting the safe loading, transportation, unloading, storage, and movement of toys and event materials between YSM locations.
• Maintaining accurate donation, pickup, delivery, and inventory records, including updating shared spreadsheets and tracking outstanding tasks.
• Assisting with Toy Market setup and teardown, including arranging tables, signage, displays, storage areas, bins, and supplies.
• Working with YSM’s Property Services, Philanthropy, program staff, Reception, Volunteer Resources, and other stakeholders to coordinate logistical needs and communicate updates.
• Supporting day‑to‑day event operations, responding to changing needs, and helping maintain a safe, organized, accessible, and welcoming environment.
• Assisting with staff and volunteer scheduling, orientation, and coordination of assigned logistical tasks.
• Maintaining schedules, checklists, and other project documentation, and contributing information for post-event reporting.
