Dublin City Council is seeking to establish an in-house Tourism Development team to support the delivery of its Tourism strategy and ambition. The team will manage the Tourism Steering Committee, which provides guidance and support, and will shape policy through engagement with the Economic Development and Enterprise Strategic Policy Committee, DCC management, and Fáilte Ireland.
THE JOB
The Tourism Innovation Manager will focus on developing Dublin's tourism infrastructure and programming, including capital tourism projects, sustainable and digital tourism, data insights, smart tourism, cultural tourism, and visitor experience development. The role aligns with the broader objectives of the Economic Development Strategy, European policies, and will contribute to various Development Plan and Corporate Plan objectives. The manager will report to the Head of Tourism and the Head of Economic Development.

- Experience with statistical analysis, data visualization, and relevant software tools.
QUALIFICATIONS
CHARACTER: Each candidate shall be of good character.
HEALTH: Candidates should be in good health, capable of regular service.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, ETC.: Candidates must meet one of the following:
- At least a Grade D (or Pass) in five subjects from the approved list, including Irish and/or English and one of Mathematics, Accounting, Business Organisation, or Economics.
- Or a comparable standard in an equivalent exam.
- Or hold a third-level degree of at least standard level.
DESIRABLE:
- Degree in tourism, technology, IT, innovation, or project management.
- At least three years' relevant experience in tourism or technology.
- Additional technical training related to tourism or project management.
- Knowledge of public service organizations and local government.
- Fluency in Irish and other languages.
- Experience in smart and sustainable tourism, product development, marketing, or business development.
DUTIES
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the development and implementation of tourism strategies and plans.
- Ensuring effective delivery and communication of projects and objectives.
- Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
- Managing tourism-related projects, including European projects, on time and within budget.
- Gathering and analyzing tourism data, developing dashboards, and informing reports.
- Engaging with universities, data providers, government agencies, and industry at events and forums.
- Developing presentations, reports, and communication materials.
- Managing project budgets and ensuring good governance.
- Providing operational support and deputizing for the Head of Tourism as needed.
The duties may vary and include other responsibilities as assigned by the City Council.
