Job Summary:

The Labourer – Touch up Painter is responsible for producing high-quality work with zero defects and meeting work deadlines in a safe manner. This role entails preparing surfaces for painting, applying paint and primer, and maintaining equipment while supporting various tasks within the plant as directed by the Plant Manager.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Applies paper and masking tape to protect unpainted surfaces, such as windows and trim.
  • Verifies and uses the proper paint as directed and according to specifications.
  • Applies primer or finish coat of paint using brush or roller.
  • Assists in a variety of areas throughout the plant, including cleaning and sweeping, as directed by the Lead and/or Plant Manager
  • Cross-trains and performs the work of other job tasks as directed.

Job Qualifications:

  • Previous experience painting and detailing required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with various hand tools and operate an industrial powered fork truck.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the position.

Contacts:

Primarily internal shop staff to exchange information.

Effort (Physical & Sensory):

  • Continuous standing (8-10 hours per day and up to 6 days a week)
  • Regular walking, sitting, reaching, climbing or balancing, using fine motor skills; and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Regular lifting and/or moving material (50 lb)
  • Regular vision/sensory demands: close, distance, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

  • Be exposed to various environmental conditions, such as extreme temperatures, fumes, chemicals, odours, noise and vibration (>80%)
  • Operate machinery, forklifts, and other industrial equipment (<50%)
  • Work at heights (<50%)
  • Wear safety devices, clothing or other safety procedures (e.g., harnesses, safety goggles, ear protection and steel-toed boots) (>80%)
