Job summary

Southmedic Inc. in Barrie, Ontario, is seeking a Tool Maker to produce new tooling and maintain existing tooling in a quality-driven environment. You will play a key role in tool room organization, tool accuracy, and safe operations while upholding our Quality Systems and values.

You will work with a team, support training of apprentices, and ensure tools are kept in good condition with proper documentation and reporting of issues.

Qualifications

  • Strong mold making and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Certified apprenticeship completed or substantial field experience.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized tool room and efficient work pace.
  • Construct new tools and modify existing ones with due diligence.
  • Ensure quality assurance standards are met in tooling processes.
  • Report damaged tools to supervisor promptly.
  • Assist training of trainees and apprentices and share knowledge.
  • Follow Southmedic Quality Systems and values in daily work.

We are looking for a Tool Maker – a skilled individual that is responsible for the production of new tooling and maintenance of existing tooling.

What You Will Do
  • Always maintain a clean and organized tool room.
  • Perform all tasks accurately and in a time efficient manner.
  • Exercise due diligence when constructing new tools or altering existing tools.
  • Ensure that the quality assurance is maintained within acceptable standards.
  • Keep all tools in good working order and report any broken or damaged tools to the supervisor.
  • Staff is required to work as a team
  • Complete all required forms with details and time sheets right after the job is done.
  • Assist in the training and sharing of knowledge with trainees and apprentices.
  • Always work in a safe manner in regards to yourself and others in the tool room closely
  • Shall be familiar with the Southmedic Quality Systems mission and values
What We Need
  • Strong background in mold making and trouble shooting.
  • Problem solving skills are essential.
  • Completion of a certified apprenticeship in a compatible field or proof of sufficient experience in the field

Hourly Wage Range $28.00 - $36.00
