Job description

The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (TMChoir) is seeking experienced amateur singers (age 17+) to join its volunteer ensemble for the 2025/26 Season. This is an exciting opportunity to perform a wide range of choral repertoire under the direction of Artistic Director Jean-Sébastien Vallée, including TMChoir-produced concerts and collaborations with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, including Carmina Burana and Beethoven’s Ninth next season.

About TMChoir:
As Canada’s premier symphonic choir, TMChoir consists of 160 voices and performs regularly at major concert venues in Toronto. Our singers are passionate, committed, and dedicated to musical excellence.

Who We’re Looking For:
We welcome choristers with musical training and previous singing experience — prior choral experience is strongly recommended. Successful applicants will demonstrate vocal ability, musicianship, and a commitment to rehearsal and performance schedules.

Choristers must be willing and able to commit to an exciting schedule of rehearsals and performances (approx. 200 hours in total from September to June). Regular rehearsals are held on Monday nights from 7:00-9:30 pm at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church (Yonge & St. Clair). Additional rehearsals are held preceding each performance. TMChoir choristers pay an annual membership fee, a one-time music deposit, and must purchase their own concert attire.
