Purpose Of The Role

The SAP Finance Functional Lead is responsible for managing the design, implementation, and optimization of SAP financial solutions to meet an organization’s business needs. The role serves as a bridge between finance stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring SAP functionalities align with financial processes, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals. This position involves leading SAP finance-related projects and ensuring the seamless integration of financial operations across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Design and Implementation:
• Design SAP finance solutions to address business requirements, focusing on modules such as SAP FI (Financial Accounting) and SAP CO (Controlling).
• Lead the configuration, testing, and deployment of SAP finance modules.
• Ensure seamless integration with other SAP modules (e.g., MM, SD, PP) and third-party systems.
• Business Process Optimization:
• Analyze existing financial processes and recommend SAP-enabled improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Propose solutions to automate manual financial processes and improve reporting capabilities.
• Stakeholder Collaboration:
• Act as the primary liaison between finance stakeholders and the SAP technical team.
• Gather and document requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout project lifecycles.
• Leadership and Team Management:
• Lead a functional team of consultants, ensuring high-quality delivery of SAP financial solutions.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
• Collaborate with project managers to define and manage timelines, resources, and budgets.
• Training and Support:
• Develop training materials and conduct workshops for end-users and finance teams.
• Provide post-implementation support and resolve issues related to SAP finance functionalities.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including process flows, configurations, and user guides.
• Develop dashboards and reports to monitor financial performance and SAP system effectiveness.
• Compliance and Risk Management:
• Ensure SAP solutions comply with financial regulations (e.g., IFRS, GAAP, tax laws) and internal policies.
• Identify risks and implement controls to maintain data integrity and security.
  

Key Skills And Competencies

• Functional Expertise:
• Extensive knowledge of SAP FI and CO modules, including submodules such as General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting (AA), Cost Center Accounting, and Profitability Analysis (CO-PA).
• Understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and cost control processes.
• Business Acumen:
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, including regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Ability to align SAP solutions with the organization’s financial strategies and goals.
• Problem-Solving Skills:
• Analytical mindset with the ability to address complex financial challenges using SAP functionalities.
• Ability to identify and resolve system and process-related issues effectively.
• Communication Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with finance leaders, business users, and technical teams.

Qualifications And Experience

• Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
• SAP certifications in relevant finance modules (preferred).
• Professional Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in SAP FI/CO implementation and support roles.
• Proven expertise in configuring and delivering SAP financial solutions in industries such as manufacturing, retail, or financial services.
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and project lifecycle management.
  
  

• Technical Skills:
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA Finance functionalities, including Central Finance and SAP Fiori applications.
• Experience with financial reporting tools, SAP Solution Manager, and data migration methodologies.
• Tools and Technologies:
• Knowledge of financial integration with SAP modules such as MM, SD, and PP.
• Familiarity with tax, banking, and treasury modules is a plus.
