Role Description

We are seeking a Contract Business Development Lead to help scale our presence in the Okanagan region and grow FOE’s Central BC operations. This is a strategic client-facing role designed for a high-performing business development professional with experience in creative, marketing, or tech sectors—ideally with ties to the wine, tourism, real estate, or SaaS industries. This individual will be instrumental in helping us grow one of the most significant parts of our business, with a clear path to transitioning into a permanent full-time position. You will support FOE’s leadership in achieving our long-term growth goals in the region while working closely with our remote creative, dev, and marketing teams, on Vancouver Island, to deliver top-tier solutions across web, brand, and digital marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage new business opportunities across the Okanagan (Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon) and Central BC region.
  • Build strategic relationships with local businesses in wine, tourism, real estate development, and technology.
  • Develop and execute lead generation strategies to attract ideal clients to FOE’s brand, web, and digital marketing services.
  • Collaborate with the FOE team to translate client needs into proposals, statements of work, and project plans.
  • Represent FOE at regional networking events, chamber meetings, and creative or tech conferences.
  • Conduct competitor and market research to inform strategic decisions and positioning.
  • Serve as a key local contact for clients, fostering long-term partnerships and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in business development, client strategy, or sales—preferably in a creative, marketing, or tech agency.
  • Proven ability to generate leads, close deals, and manage client relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; client-first mindset.
  • Experience in/understanding of Central BC sectors such as wine, tourism, or real estate etc.
  • Analytical skills for conducting market research and identifying growth opportunities and patterns.
  • Comfortable working independently and remotely, with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Located in or willing to travel frequently within the Okanagan region.
  • Type: Contract Position (with potential to become full-time)
  • Start Date: Immediately
  • Reports to: Studio Director, FOE Creative

Compensation Structure

  • Hours: 60-90 hours per month (part-time contract to start).
  • Commission: 5-7% of any signed contract or project closed by the BD Lead
  • Transition Opportunity: High performers may be offered full-time roles with a salary range of $70,000–$85,000 + bonus.
