Job summary

St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Thoracic surgery team. Under physician supervision, the PA conducts comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and manages patients requiring acute care, including ambulatory nodules and incidental findings.

The role includes postoperative and surveillance follow‑up, assistance in the operating room and endoscopy as competence grows, and a path toward full integration across thoracic care within a multidisciplinary program.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Canadian or US PA training program.
• Certification (CCPA or PA-C) or eligible for certification.
• Registered and in good standing with the CPSO as a Physician Assistant.
• Preference given to experience in respirology, thoracic surgery, oncology, or internal medicine.
• Preference given to new graduate candidates.
• Demonstrates superior communication skills.
• Supports the Mission Statement of St Joseph’s Healthcare.
• Preference given to applicants with previous internal medicine or cardiology experience.
• Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team environment.
• Able to work independently within their scope of practice and physician‑PA relationship.
• Willing to work a variety of shifts to support patient care.

Responsibilities

• Ambulatory assessment and longitudinal follow‑up of pulmonary nodules.
• Support postoperative and surveillance follow‑up of thoracic surgery patients.
• Assist with operating room and endoscopy as competence develops.
