Job Description:3rd Class Power Engineer - Gas Plant Operator

  • Schedule: 7 on 712 hour shifts
  • Operation and Maintenance of Equipment: Oversee the operation and maintenance of the plant's equipment, ensuring adherence to safety and efficiency standards.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards, particularly in handling sour gas.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identify, analyze, and resolve operational problems to minimize downtime and maintain continuous plant operation.
  • Monitoring and Control Systems: Efficiently operate and monitor control systems and respond to system deviations or alarms.
  • Maintenance Planning: Assist in planning and executing routine maintenance and outage activities to enhance plant reliability.
  • Emergency Response: Actively participate in emergency response drills and real incidents, demonstrating a high level of preparedness and safety awareness.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate operational records and provide reports on plant performance and issues.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other engineers, technicians, and staff to ensure optimal plant operation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting enhancements to operational procedures and safety protocols.
  • Training and Supervision: Provide guidance and training to junior staff and ensure that team members adhere to operational best practices and safety standards.
Requirements
  • Valid 3rd Class Power Engineer Certification as per Alberta standards.
  • Previous experience in a sour gas plant or similar industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of sour gas processing and related safety hazards.
  • Proficient in the use of control systems and industrial automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
