Position Overview:
This opportunity offers a unique 20-month heavy equipment technician diploma program designed to provide technical training aligned with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Examination requirements for Heavy Equipment Technicians. The program focuses on CATERPILLAR (CAT) equipment, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on skills. Graduates will be prepared to work across Finning's locations in Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan, N.W.T., and the Yukon. Successful candidates will earn wages at the 1st-year apprentice rate during semesters 1-4 and at the 2nd-year apprentice rate in semester 5. Tuition, books, and exam fees are paid for by the program.

Compensation:
$31.31/hour for first-year apprentices.

Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma preferred; GED or Certificate of Achievement considered individually
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Completion of the Candidate Profile Package with Northwestern Polytechnic
- Successful completion of the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT)
- Successful interview with program coordinator and Finning representatives
- Physical Demands Testing and Drug & Alcohol testing as required for site access

The ThinkBIG program is administered through NWP at the Fairview Campus, supporting Alberta and British Columbia locations.
