Finning offers a unique opportunity for aspiring heavy equipment technicians through a 20-month diploma program. This program provides both theoretical and practical training focused on Caterpillar equipment, preparing graduates for employment in various locations across Alberta and beyond. Successful candidates will receive competitive pay as apprentices and have their tuition covered.

This opportunity offers a unique 20-month heavy equipment technician diploma program designed to provide technical training aligned with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Examination requirements for Heavy Equipment Technicians. The program provides students with theoretical and practical training focused on CATERPILLAR (CAT) equipment. Graduates will acquire advanced technical knowledge and hands-on skills specific to CAT equipment, preparing them for employment opportunities across more than 40 locations in Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan, N.W.T, and the Yukon. Successful candidates will be paid at the 1st-year apprentice rate during semesters 1-4 and at the 2nd-year apprentice rate in semester 5. Tuition, books, and apprenticeship exam fees are paid for each student.
