Alberta Health Services (AHS) presents an exciting opportunity for a Recreation Assistant to work within a dynamic environment designed to meet the needs of individuals with dementia syndrome and complex behavioral issues.
The Recreation Assistant is part of a multidisciplinary team focused on collaborative, patient-centered care. The successful candidate will assist in promoting comprehensive services for residents, developing and implementing evidence-based, client-centered practices aligned with therapeutic recreation standards. The role involves collaboration with Therapy Assistants, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, and Social Work, working closely with nursing teams.
In addition to a competitive salary, AHS offers a Remote Retention Allowance up to $3,000 annually, payable hourly for all paid hours, non-pensionable.
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both independently and as part of an interprofessional team under the supervision of audiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, recreation therapists, or speech-language pathologists. Your responsibilities include contributing to effective rehabilitation services across the healthcare continuum, providing direct and indirect client care for all ages, and supporting non-client service activities.
You will need to work effectively with internal and external partners, uphold professionalism and ethics, demonstrate reflective thinking, and engage in lifelong learning.
