Opportunity Overview

South Health Campus (SHC) serves Calgary and surrounding rural areas, functioning as a referral centre for Southern Alberta. The department emphasizes four pillars: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation, guiding service development for all patients and families.

The Allied Health department provides inpatient and outpatient services. Under supervision from the Allied Health Assistant Manager and support from the Clinical Practice Leader, the Therapy Assistant is responsible for direct and indirect patient care, working individually and as part of an inter-professional team under the guidance of Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, among others.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide direct and non-direct patient care across various settings, including acute medical, neuro, and surgical areas.
  2. Work collaboratively with team members and external partners, demonstrating professionalism and ethics in client care.
  3. Engage in reflective practice, lifelong learning, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, program planning, and student supervision.
  4. Participate in rotational weekend coverage.
Qualifications
  • Diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience as a Therapy Assistant in an adult acute care environment within the past year.
  • Experience working as a Seating Technician within the past year.
