Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Tofield Health Centre seeks a qualified Therapy Assistant to join the Allied Health - Recreation team on a casual/relief basis.

You will work both independently and with an interprofessional group under supervision of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist, contributing to rehabilitation services across all ages.

Qualifications

  • Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
  • BLS and First Aid Training required.
  • Preferred Recreation Therapy or Interdisciplinary TA Program with Recreation component is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect client care within an interprofessional team.
  • Support rehabilitation services across all ages.
  • Collaborate with audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist.

The job opportunity available is for a certified Therapy Assistant within the Tofield Health Centre, Recreation department. The department is looking for a qualified individual that is able to provide Therapy Assistant hours casually. The successful incumbent will be expected to support the Allied Health Team. They must be confident, and able to work both as part of a team and individual. Skills that are required for this position are: Interpersonal skills. Communication skills. Time management skills. Problem solving skills. Ability to work with limited supervision. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with the interdisciplinary team, patients and families in a dynamic health care setting. Excellent organizational and time management skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload to keep pace in a busy multi-disciplinary patient care environment. Basic Computer skills required. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the values of AHS – Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety.

Description:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications:
