Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Rocky Mountain House is seeking a Therapy Assistant to support outpatient rehabilitation. You will work within an interprofessional team to deliver direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum for all ages.

The role emphasizes safety, ethical practice, and collaboration with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to enhance patient outcomes. Remote work is not indicated.

Qualifications

• Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
• Additional Required Qualifications: As required.
• Preferred completion of a Physical Therapy Diploma or an Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant program with a Physical therapy component from an accredited post-secondary program.

Responsibilities

• Performs safe and effective patient treatment interventions under the direction of the Physiotherapist in Outpatient Services.
• Assists in interventions including exercise and mobility programs, provision of mobility aids, ADL training, therapeutic transfers, equipment maintenance and inspection.
• Schedules appointments, equipment ordering and provision, inventory cleaning and maintenance, ordering supplies, and preparing treatment areas.
• Primarily physical therapy interventions with some occupational therapy duties as needed.
• Opportunity to work under the direction of a Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver group exercise programming to respiratory clients.

This position will consist of primarily physical therapy interventions, although some occupational therapy duties are also required. Additionally, there may be opportunity to work under the direction of a Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver group exercise programming to respiratory clients.

Description:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.
