Job summary

Carewest, a Calgary-based leader in complex continuing care, is seeking compassionate helpers to join our team at Colonel Belcher. This temporary full-time role supports residents with activities of daily living, social events, and therapeutic activities, under supervision.

You will contribute to care plans, assist with crafts, group exercises, and ensure safety and quality of life. Requires Grade 12, active CPR, and PCA or related certificate; previous geriatric experience is an asset.

Qualifications

• Graduation from Grade 12.
• Current and active Basic Life Support Provider CPR is required.
• PCA, Certificate in leisure activities or equivalent.
• Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Related experience in a hospital or continuing care facility is preferred.
• Geriatric experience is an asset.
• Program specific training/experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, perform routine client care support activities to optimize residents' functional abilities.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADL) and social events.
• Instruct craft classes and assist with group exercises and games.
• Support care plans and coordinate with interdisciplinary team.
• Other related duties as required.

The Opportunity

Position Summary

Under close supervision, and in accordance with established policies, procedures and care plans, performs a variety of routine client care support activities to optimize the functional abilities of residents. Duties may include assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), instructing craft classes, assisting with social events, group exercises and games. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary

Complex Care - for frail seniors who require the care of an interdisciplinary team to maintain and improve quality of life in safe, comfortable and supportive environments. Carewest offers a mix of secured and unsecured units.
