SUMMARY:

The therapist works collaboratively as a member of The Link’s multi-disciplinary clinical team. The successful candidate delivers individual therapy to youth who are involved with Child and Family Services and pursuing education goals. Utilizing knowledge and experience in assessment, best practices, and evidence-based interventions, this position is responsible for providing focused and creative interventions to meet the needs of the youth and young adults it supports.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a member of this collaborative, multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate responds to referrals, completes assessments, and develops therapeutic goals designed to support individual youth and their caregivers;
  • Ensures therapeutic goals are developed in the context of the youths strengths, needs, successes, skills, personal-social-cultural resources, and interests;
  • Utilizes a holistic approach to healing and growth, provides direct individual therapy to youth and young adults;
  • Work within a Trauma-based, Attachment, and Transitional support framework;
  • Facilitates the collaboration among all systems involved with youth in the assessment, delivery, and coordination of services designed to meet the youths goals and objectives; and participates in multi-systems meetings as necessary;
  • Provides ongoing and as-needed consultation regarding youth treatment, behaviour management, and problem-solving;
  • Provides insight and recommendations to the youths’ support team members, as appropriate
  • Documents treatment as well as program reporting. The therapist is required to keep appropriate documentation of all clinical activities.

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in a supervised clinical setting working with children and youth;
  • Masters Degree in applicable Human Services field; a combination of education (Bachelors Degree in applicable Human Services field) and experience may be considered;
  • Current registration in good standing with an appropriate licensing body is required

EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES:

  • Experience providing a broad range of clinical services and demonstrated effective work with a child and adolescent population who present a variety of clinically challenging issues;
  • Knowledge of and experience working with youth who may be difficult to engage in the therapeutic process;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of family and social challenges facing Indigenous children, youth and families, including intergenerational trauma;
  • Thorough understanding of systems involvement for youth and families;
  • An advanced understanding of trauma, child and adolescent development, and psychiatric diagnostic categories and impressions;
  • Understanding of child development, family dynamics, attachment, and issues related to complex families;
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in a variety of intervention strategies for youth and parents with high levels of conflict and experience in working with families who may be difficult to engage;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Demonstrated adherence to ethical and professional standards of conduct;

WORKING CONDITION:

  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C, or willingness to obtain;
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search;
  • A clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks, and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months.
  • Use of personal vehicle

SALARY RANGE: $34.00 to $36.00 hourly, depending on qualification

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time permanent position

HOURS OF WORK:17.5 hours per week. Schedule may vary depending on participant or program need
