A leading pediatric rehabilitation facility in Ontario is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. This role involves developing and implementing therapeutic recreation programs for children with disabilities, collaborating with families, and participating in research activities. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and experience in therapeutic recreation. This position requires effective communication skills and the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Community Life Skills Team: TRS is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of Therapeutic Recreation/Life Skills Programs and community-outreach initiatives for children and youth with a disability. Life skills are the problem-solving and life management skills an individual uses to function successfully in 5 areas: self, family, community, school/ job and leisure. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, The TRS collaborates with clients to develop an intervention plan that supports individual healthy lifestyles and reflects collaboration and communication with the client, family and team.
Clinical Brain Computer Interface (BCI) Program uses cutting edge, non-invasive technology to support independent participation in recreation and functional applications among children with disabilities. The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist develops BCI-enabled recreation programming and supports children and youth to use BCI technologies to actively engage in this programming. This role involves onsite, in-person visits.
