Responsibilities include planning activity calendars, facilitating outings, and identifying opportunities for residents to share skills. The position requires a diploma in Recreation/Leisure or Therapeutic Recreation, and at least two years in long-term care.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Recreation/Leisure studies, Therapeutic Recreation.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Long Term Care industry.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of programming needs for older adults diagnosed with dementia.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• All applicants must pass the Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide recreation and leisure activities including outings per policy, orders, and care plan.
• Contribute to and sustain a plan of care to meet residents’ assessed needs.
• Assist in planning activity calendars aligned with care goals and resident preferences.
• Identify opportunities for residents to share skills with others inside/outside the residence.
• Identify appropriate therapeutic recreation goals and interventions on care plans.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
