Job description

Join our production team this summer as we celebrate our 38th season as Ottawa’s premiere open-air theatre. Our Theatre Under the Stars series transforms Ottawa’s beautiful Strathcona Park into a theatre venue along the banks of the Rideau River that attracts thousands each year.

CREATE! Series

From August 12-18, CREATE! will provide opportunities for professional artists, theatre enthusiasts, and newcomers to work together. The series will feature theatre, dance, mask and puppet-making, crafts, processions, storytelling, and other arts events designed to encourage participation from artists, youth, volunteers, and the public in a celebration of the arts.

Position: Theatre Technician

We are hiring a Theatre Technician for our summer season. You will work closely with the Technical Director and Stage Manager as a key member of our production team and be responsible for:

  1. Technical set-up and strike;
  2. Attending technical and dress rehearsals;
  3. Operating lighting and/or sound for performances;
  4. Maintaining technical equipment;
  5. Troubleshooting and fixing problems if they arise; and
  6. Assisting with the strike at the end of the run.

A valid driver’s license is required; access to a vehicle is an asset. First aid training and working safely at heights training are assets. Experience with Q-Lab is required.

Dates and Schedule
  • Tech Set-up: August 9-12
  • Opening event: August 13
  • Technical rehearsals: August 14-15
  • Performances: August 16-18
  • Strike: August 19-20

Contract Duration: 11 days

Hours: Estimated

Salary: $22-24 per hour
