Wireless Device Certification Tester
Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Core Network, within the Wireless Engineering group, the Wireless Device Certification Tester participates in the planning, coordination, and execution of all wireless devices testing for Cogeco's mobility products. The Wireless Device Certification Tester is the subject matter expert in their field, working closely with the Network Quality Assurance Manager. The incumbent will be part of the wireless engineering group and will ensure that mobile devices function correctly on Cogeco's mobile network.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the test plan for mobile device certification and testing, in conjunction with the Network Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Coordinate and maintain the inventory of mobile devices used across Cogeco and its partners for executing the test plans.
  • Execute the test plans developed by the Network Quality Assurance Manager for mobile device certification to ensure that devices comply with all relevant standards and function correctly on Cogeco’s network.
  • Identify non-conformities found during testing, provide initial analysis, and record details in the defect management system.
  • Track and re-qualify defects discovered during test execution.
  • Follow up on discovered defects with the supplier(s) before ensuring a resolution and high-quality delivery.
  • Actively participate in problem resolution, discussing issues with Cogeco architects as well as internal and external suppliers.
  • Evaluate mobile devices through lab testing, device or network log capture, and capture analysis using post-processing tools.
  • Capture any device-related issue discovered during testing, including any device-specific limitation, detailing the step‑step reproduction process and defining the problem’s impact on the end‑user.
  • Ensure that solutions comply with defined standards (3GPP, GSMA, etc.) and best practices, and/or assist in defining and developing these standards and practices for Cogeco.
  • Be capable of working in a dynamic, high‑pressure environment with strict deadlines, both as an individual contributor and as a team member.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer, documentation, and information sharing while staying informed about new technologies and technical domains.
Professional Experience
  • 5 years of experience with a 3G/LTE/5G mobile operator.
  • 2‑3 years of experience in mobile device testing.
  • Experience in capturing and analyzing device logs – QXDM / QCAT, MTK, etc…
  • Experience with LTE/5G networks and call flows.
  • Experience with mobile working groups (GSMA NSX, GSMA TSG, PTCRB).
Qualifications
  • University degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of 5G / IMS / LTE wireless technologies.
  • Detailed knowledge of LTE/5G protocols and call flows.
  • General knowledge of Cloud Native environments, with technologies such as AWS/GCP/Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, OpenStack, VMWare, KVM, or EKS.
  • Proficiency in English and French, both oral and written.
  • The candidate must be bilingual to communicate verbally and in writing with US and international suppliers.
  • Autonomous and well‑organized.
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of the Canadian wireless market.
  • Authorized to travel to the United States.
