The tester apprentice's primary duties are to perform receiving and inspection of weapons, weapon systems and documentation prior to test. Position and set up targets, both mechanical and electronic. Assist with set up of weapon systems, bore sight, ammunition loading, and test fire. Assist in tests on all weapon and weapon systems including prototype, performance acceptance, interchangeability, endurance, qualification, product improvement, engineering tests, and all production systems. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ensure compliance to the Range Standard Operating Procedures and notify management of violations for appropriate action.
The tester apprentice may also get involved with assisting Quality and Engineering in investigating failures. At times, will assist in the assembly and repair of mechanical/electrical assemblies, structures, gun systems, or devices from formal or informal drawings and other forms of instruction. Perform building, grounds, and general maintenance and cleaning duties including but not limited to government property, snow removal, painting, grass mowing, replacing lights, and collecting trash from all buildings, operating a truck, forklift, and all Range equipment as necessary.
Possibility of limited travel to assist in demonstrations, engineering tests, or off-site projects.
Education: High School Diploma, GED, Associate degree preferred.
Experience: Prefer previous experience with electro-mechanical assembly and interpreting drawings.
