A technology firm in Vancouver is looking for a Test Technician to support the testing and diagnostics of electronic assemblies. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with industry-standard test equipment and a solid understanding of electronic components. Responsibilities include performing tests, troubleshooting, and maintaining documentation to ensure product quality in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
We are seeking a Test Technician to join our Test Department, supporting the functional testing and diagnostics of complex electronic assemblies, including PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using industry-standard test equipment and a strong understanding of electronic components and schematics. This role plays a key part in ensuring product quality, supporting engineering feedback loops, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.
Perform functional testing on a variety of electronic assemblies with varying levels of complexity, ensuring compliance with customer requirements.
Operate and, when necessary, program the flying probe machine for PCB assembly testing.
Utilize standard electronics lab equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators) to conduct tests and diagnostics.
Interpret assembly schematics and troubleshoot PCBA failures.
Occasionally perform vibration and/or temperature testing as required.
Support the maintenance, organization, and documentation of test fixtures and related equipment; report any equipment needs to the test department.
Communicate testing issues effectively to internal teams.
Record and track first-pass yield and defect data accurately.
Provide feedback and suggestions for improving customer test instructions; communicate redlines and updates to engineering.
Assist in the training of team members as required.
Act as a role model by adhering to and promoting safety, ESD, ITAR, and QMS protocols.
Actively participate in Lean initiatives; provide feedback to support change stability and sustainability.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve product flow and reduce waste.
Follow procedures outlined in SFE quality documentation; assist in updating procedures and work instructions to reflect current practices.
Ensure work meets or exceeds quality standards and is completed on time in accordance with production schedules.
Use the MES system to track job status and time accurately.
Participate in the review of test instructions during the quoting process.
1–2 years of experience testing electronic assemblies, or an Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
General knowledge of electronic components and their functions, with the ability to interpret electronic schematics
Familiarity with standard electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and related tools
IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications
Monday-Thursday, 10 hour shifts
