Job summary

Jabil in Prince George, VA is starting a new factory to manufacture large form-factor equipment. You will join the core startup and onboarding team to build operations, craft process flow and write work instructions from the ground up.

The role focuses on hands-on electrical assembly, wiring (panel and point-to-point), and both high and low voltage work, with a 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Monday to Friday shift. You will collaborate with test engineers and manufacturing to enable a smooth startup.

• Ability to present information to groups of managers and customers.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Advanced PC skills with Windows-based software.

Responsibilities

• Assist Test Engineers when commissioning new test equipment.
• Provide technical assistance to technicians on the same shift.
• Provide line support to manufacturing for all test processes.
• Ensure timely response to “machine down” calls and escalating issues as needed.
• Liaise with manufacturing to determine repair priorities and ensure adequate spares.
• Ensure Preventative Maintenance is carried out at specified intervals.

This role is to support a new factory in Prince George, VA (onsite) startup manufacturing large form-factor equipment. The product will be large (shipping container size), heavy (50+ tons), and complex. This position will be part of the core factory startup and onboarding team responsible for building the operations and manufacturing staff, fitting out the building, and creating the process flow/work instructions/etc. from the ground up. Skills to include: panel and point to point wire assembly, Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, and High Power Electronic assemblies.

Shift: 6AM – 2:30PM Monday to Friday

**JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides input for colleague’s performance appraisals
• Assists Test Engineers when commissioning new test equipment.
• Provides technical assistance to other technicians on the same shift.
• Provides line support to manufacturing for all test processes.
• Ensures “machine down” calls are responded to in a timely manner.
• Liaises with manufacturing to determine repair priorities.
• Ensures adequate spares are available for all allocated equipment.
• Ensures Preventative Maintenance is carried out at specified intervals on all allocated equipment.
• Liaises with manufacturing to ensure Preventative Maintenance does not impact production schedule.
• Escalates to Test Engineers any unresolved/ongoing issues.
• Instructs operators on safe/effective use of test equipment.
• Provides daily report of all line issues.
• Provides weekly/quarterly downtime reports for allocated equipment.
• Sources spares from the most cost effective supplier.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS and KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software.
• Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages.
• Ability to write simple correspondence. Read and understand visual aid.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
