Job description

Independent energy is here. Help us deploy it.

Energy should be free. Free from aging grids, fragile supply chains, and unnecessary extraction. At Moment Energy, we’re building a world where clean power is abundant, affordable, and uninterrupted for everyone.

The world doesn’t need another promise about energy; it needs proof that a freer future is possible. Moment Energy is the pragmatic liberator of power, the only company certified to turn the largest untapped energy supply into independent energy.

Now is the moment. While the industry scraps millions of batteries with decades of life left, we put them to work by repurposing large-format batteries into advanced battery energy storage systems that deliver real-world impact.

We were told second-life batteries would never be safe enough or scalable enough. We didn’t argue, we engineered the solution. Today, Moment Energy delivers 5x the energy density and holds the certifications required to deploy energy independence at scale.

Now is the moment. Join us.
The Opportunity

We are seeking a Test Engineering Co‑op to join our Test Engineering team. We recently unveiled our new manufacturing facility, the largest second‑life battery repurposing facility in the world, and are quickly ramping up our testing and production capacity..

This is a hands‑on role, with lots of time in our new R&D lab and around the production floor. You will set up and run test benches, troubleshoot complex issues across multiple subsystems, and command massive amounts of electrical power. You’ll get exposure to every level of the stack from building custom prototyping harnesses to wrangling data from DAQs.

In this role, you will directly support the development and testing of our energy storage products while gaining hands‑on experience working alongside experienced engineers.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist the test engineering team in validating and improving energy storage products
  • Set up, configure, and maintain instruments and test benches for battery systems and power electronics
  • Assemble and modify electrical assemblies including wire harnessing, soldering, crimping, and circuit board assembly
  • Configure, debug, and operate devices via different communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, TCP/IP, serial)
  • Develop test plans, execute testing, analyze data, and write technical reports
The Student we’re looking for:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • Strong preference for students with Design Team experience
  • Career interest in clean tech, energy systems, or electronics
  • Some experience with Python or similar scripting tools
  • Hands‑on experience with soldering, circuit boards, wiring, harness building, system integration or prototyping (academic or project‑based experience welcome)
  • Ability to use 3D printing, hand tools, or power tools to build test fixtures
  • Detail‑oriented with strong documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced engineering environment
The Experience You’ll Gain:
  • Hands‑on experience developing real energy storage hardware
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers
  • Exposure to prototyping, testing, and certification processes
  • The opportunity to contribute to technology that supports the clean energy transition

We Treat Everyone with Respect:

We actively listen, share openly, and work together towards common goals. We treat one another with mutual respect to cultivate an inclusive environment where everyone feels accepted, supported, and heard. We keep an open mind and are willing to learn.
