Job summary
Moment Energy is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team and drive the development of advanced battery energy storage systems. You will lead design, testing, and optimization of power electronic subsystems from concept through production, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety in a fast-paced startup setting.
The ideal candidate has 10+ years in power electronics for industrial or renewable energy, with hands-on PCB design and strong control strategy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with power electronics focus.
- 10+ years hands-on experience designing power electronic systems for industrial or renewable energy.
- Strong understanding of power electronics topologies and control strategies.
- Experience with EMC/EMI compliance and regulatory testing.
- Experience with PCB design and layout software (Altium, Cadence).
Responsibilities
- Design and develop power electronic systems for BESS including inverters, converters, chargers.
- Perform BOM design, schematic capture, and circuit board layout for power electronics.
- Design for EMC/EMI compliance, regulatory testing, documentation, and data analysis.
- Conduct circuit analysis, simulation, and modeling to optimize designs for efficiency and cost.
- Select and specify power electronic components (IGBTs, MOSFETs, diodes, transformers).
- Develop control algorithms for stable operation under various conditions.
- Oversee fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototypes and production units.
- Test and validate power electronic systems to meet performance specs and standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate into BESS solutions.
- Stay updated on advancements in power electronics technology and industry trends.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Moment Energy's power electronics design processes.

We're looking for an experienced and driven Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the development of cutting‑edge energy storage solutions. As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and testing power electronic systems for our innovative battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety.
- Design and develop power electronic systems for battery energy storage systems (BESS), including inverters, converters, and chargers.
- Perform BOM design, schematic capture, and circuit board layout for power electronic systems.
- Design for EMC/EMI compliance, perform regulatory testing, documentation, and data analysis.
- Conduct detailed circuit analysis, simulation, and modeling to optimize designs for efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Select and specify power electronic components, such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, diodes, and transformers, based on project requirements.
- Develop control algorithms for power electronic systems to ensure stable and reliable operation under various conditions.
- Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and testing of power electronic prototypes and production units.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of power electronic systems to meet performance specifications and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate power electronic systems into complete BESS solutions.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in power electronics technology and industry trends.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Moment Energy's power electronics design and development processes.
We’re looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on power electronics.
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience in the design and development of power electronic systems for industrial or renewable energy applications.
- Strong understanding of power electronics principles, topologies, and control strategies.
- Proficiency in power electronics simulation tools (e.g., LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM).
- Experience with EMC/EMI compliance and regulatory testing.
- Experience with PCB design and layout software (e.g., Altium, Cadence).
- Familiarity with power electronics testing equipment and procedures.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Previous experience in a startup environment.
- Passion for clean energy and a desire to make a positive impact on the environment.
- Experience working with lithium‑ion battery systems.
- Familiarity with grid‑connected energy systems or PCS integration.
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for serviceability (DFS).
- Knowledge of UL1973, UL9540, and UL9540A certification processes.
