The opportunity

Located in Montreal, dcbel is seeking a Test Engineer to join our growing Hardware team. Reporting to the Lead Test & Validation Engineer, the successful candidate will play a key role in designing, validating, implementing, and automating testing solutions for home stations, focusing on electronics, power systems, and electrical safety.

Main responsibilities

  1. Design, validate, implement, and automate high-quality testing solutions for home stations, focusing on electronics, power systems, and electrical safety.
  2. Interpret and apply relevant standards and regulations to ensure compliance.
  3. Develop comprehensive test plans covering product reliability, standards compliance, functionality, and durability.
  4. Plan and coordinate the execution of tests, both internally and with external partners.
  5. Execute tests independently or with support from test technicians.
  6. Conduct accelerated life testing (ALT) to evaluate product performance under extreme conditions.
  7. Prepare clear, data-driven test reports to document findings and outcomes.
  8. Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing.
  9. Maintain and ensure the reliability, calibration, and readiness of test setups and equipment.

Key requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in certification and testing.
  3. Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and firmware designs.
  4. Knowledge of LabView, Python, STM32, and C is a strong asset.
  5. Comfortable working in a high-power laboratory environment.

Bonus skills

  • Bilingual in English and French.
