Job summary

CoolIT, An Ecolab Company, is seeking an Automation Specialist to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for testing CoolIT products. You will work with engineering, production, and maintenance to automate test equipment and improve efficiency.

The role requires a Diploma in Engineering Technology and 2+ years of automation experience, with responsibilities spanning installation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of test systems.

CoolIT, An Ecolab Company, a leading Direct Liquid Cooling technology provider for data centers, supercomputers, and desktop computers is seeking a talented Automation Specialist who will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to support CoolIT's products' testing. This role plays a key part in automating test equipment, improving efficiency, and ensuring product consistency by leveraging automated equipment, robotics, PLC programming, and industrial control systems. Working closely with Engineering, Production, and Maintenance teams, the Automation Specialist supports both new equipment integration and continuous improvement of existing systems.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform hands-on assembly, installation, setup, and modification of automated test equipment, fixtures, and laboratory infrastructure.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and equipment documentation to support installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
  • Build and modify electrical and mechanical assemblies, including wiring, sensors, actuators, controls, fixtures, and test equipment.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of automation equipment and test infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electrical wiring, sensors, actuators, controls, instrumentation, and automated test equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on automation and test equipment to ensure reliable laboratory operations.
  • Support infrastructure projects, equipment upgrades, lab modifications, and new test-system installations.
  • Work with engineers and other technical team members to implement automation and test-system improvements based on defined requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of equipment configurations, wiring changes, maintenance activities, and modifications.
  • Support the procurement and installation of components, tools, equipment, and materials required for automation and laboratory infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain organized, safe, and clean laboratory and test areas, including proper management of equipment, tools, cables, fixtures, and workspaces.
  • Ensure automation equipment, test stations, and supporting infrastructure are properly labeled, organized, and maintained.
  • Support inventory management of automation components, electrical parts, cables, sensors, tools, and other laboratory materials.
  • Work closely with Test Engineers, Technologists, and Technicians to support day-to-day test operations and resolve equipment-related issues.
  • Follow established safety procedures, electrical practices, and laboratory requirements when working with automation and test equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve laboratory organization, equipment reliability, test efficiency, and overall operational readiness.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in automation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with data center liquid cooling systems.
  • Strong hands‑on technical and troubleshooting capability
  • Detail-oriented approach to test setup and execution
  • Clear documentation and reporting of test results
  • Effective communication with engineers and cross‑functional teams
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑project lab environment
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and accurate test execution.
