Job summary

CoolIT, An Ecolab Company in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Factory Test Infrastructure Engineer to design, develop, and implement manufacturing test infrastructure supporting high‑flow, high‑pressure systems and automation.

You will collaborate with contractors and engineering teams to deliver piping, electrical, and control systems, review layouts and P&IDs, and ensure safety, reliability, and maintainability of production test facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with piping design, fluid systems and industrial utilities.
• Knowledge of high‑power electrical applications and industrial power distribution.
• Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, instrumentation and automation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop factory test infrastructure including piping systems, fluid distribution, high‑power electrical systems and automation controls.
• Support development of large‑scale, high‑flow, high‑pressure test systems with pumps, valves, heat exchangers, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Develop and review equipment layouts, piping drawings, P&IDs and infrastructure requirements.
• Define specifications and scopes for contractors and engineering consultants.
• Support PLC‑based automation, instrumentation integration, data acquisition, interlocks, alarms and automated test sequences.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and consultants during design, installation and commissioning.
• Assist with equipment installation, troubleshooting, commissioning and infrastructure improvements.
• Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, maintainability and manufacturing requirements.
• Experience in manufacturing, factory testing, liquid cooling or industrial equipment is a plus.

What You Will Do:

• Design and develop factory test infrastructure including piping systems, fluid distribution systems, high-power electrical systems, and automation controls.

• Support PLC-based automation, instrumentation integration, data acquisition, interlocks, alarms, and automated test sequences.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and consulting engineering firms during design, installation, and commissioning.
• Support equipment installation, troubleshooting, commissioning, and infrastructure improvements.
• Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, maintainability, and manufacturing requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of piping design, fluid systems, pumps, valves, and industrial utilities.
• Good understanding of high-power electrical applications and industrial power distribution.
• Working knowledge of industrial automation, PLCs, sensors, instrumentation, VFDs, control panels, and automated equipment.
• Experience working with contractors, engineering consulting companies, and equipment suppliers.
• Ability to read and review P&IDs, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment layouts.
• Strong project coordination, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Experience in manufacturing, factory testing, liquid cooling, thermal systems, or industrial equipment is considered an asset.
