S.I. Systems Ltd. in Toronto is seeking a Test Automation Engineer to automate UI test scripts for the PO application using Java, JavaScript, and API testing.

The role requires 4+ years in automation (web and mobile), strong coding skills, and experience with Postman. This 11/01/2026–10/31/2027 contract offers hybrid work with 3 days in-office in Toronto.

Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on test automation experience testing web and mobile apps.

Contract Duration: 11/01/2026 to 10/31/2027 (Possibility of extension)

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

Business group: Digital Technology – HM’s portfolio has many applications, manages SBH, BRL, APIs, ScotiaWorks – doing automation testing

Project: PO application – incumbent will need to work on automating UI test scripts for the PO application

Reason: This is a backfill request for previous PO contactor to take care of PO projects

Typical Day in Role

• Be an advocate for quality in the project lifecycle.
• Write moderate to complex code/ scripts to test systems.
• Design, develop and maintain a modular, extensible, and reusable test automation framework to enable continuous testing in an agile environment.
• Collaborate closely with other team members to develop test approach that effectively covers the functional performance characteristics of features in the applications.
• Collaborate with Delivery Lead to plan milestones, successfully execute software delivery, and elevate issues as needed.
• Report defects and work closely with the team so that solutions can be determined, prioritized, and scheduled.
• Prioritize testing of projects effectively across various businesses, to drive efficient work.
• Conduct root cause analysis of post-production issues and plan to prevent them in future.
• Have in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the organization’s products, applications, systems, environments, processes and tools.
• Introduce and influence overall process improvements and act as an agent for change to the organization.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills

• 1) 4+ years of demonstrated hands-on and in-depth Test Automation experience- testing on both web and mobile applications
• 2) 4+ years of test automation experience and in-depth knowledge of programming languages: Java/ JavaScript
• 3) 2+ years’ recent experience with API testing - preferably using Postman

Nice-To-Have Skills

• Experience with AI

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field preferred

Best VS. Average Candidate

Focus is on web automation experience however want them to have both mobile and web; someone who can work with minimal hand holding; strong automation skills; strong communication skills; any experience with AI will be helpful

Fast learner, run with automation testing of the project, well versed in technologies, any framework in web and mobile app testing, postman and rest assured, databases experience; able to communicate blockers, status updates so need collaboration and effective communication skills

Java/JavaScript: should be able to fully write the code – even if they know 1/2 can teach them the other – no manual testing so important for them to be able to write full scripts in either language

Interview

1st Interview – 1-hour technical panel video interview with HM team, follow-up questions from test and other live coding assignments

Candidates should have MS Teams set up ahead of time, and ready to be on video and share their screen for the live assignments.

Final Interview – 45 minutes with Director – more behavioral
