Join a place where you can propel your career in the direction you desire.

Save on fuel at Canadian gas stations, including Chevron, Fas Gas, Ultramar, and Pioneer.

The Opportunity :

The Territory Manager is a key decision-maker and main contact for all operational aspects of approximately 20 retail sites owned by the company in Northern Ontario (Parry Sound, Sudbury, the surrounding Sudbury area, North Bay, Timmins, and Kapuskasing). The Territory Manager is responsible for health and safety (SSE), promotes operational excellence, manages sites directly under their supervision, and supports retailer performance and development by providing leadership and aligning them with Parkland's vision.

This role requires proactive execution and collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders such as marketing, merchandising, loyalty programs, and other retail leaders. The GT is responsible for building a pool of high-performing retailers and planning their development to ensure network growth. This role is primarily field-based, with frequent travel and daily interactions with clients. The GT must be a strong leader, capable of working under pressure, empowering teams, and possessing strong financial skills to manage all aspects of each site’s income statement.

Responsibilities :

  1. Promote Parkland's SSE programs to ensure all sites operate in a safe environment, comply with local, provincial, and federal environmental laws, and follow food safety regulations.
  2. Lead retailer recruitment by developing a solid pool through selection, training, onboarding, and performance development, while providing leadership and mentorship.
  3. Strategically analyze the market and implement action plans to meet annual financial goals by optimizing in-store sales and fuel volumes, while ensuring compliance with national programs.
  4. Manage the P&L (revenues, operating expenses, MG&A costs, EBITDA) by monitoring gross margins, food costs, losses, wages, repairs, and maintenance.
  5. Understand fuel performance in relation to territorial strategy and market dynamics to attract customers to the front and back of the store.
  6. Manage daily operations with an entrepreneurial approach in food sales, merchandise, fuel, and brand promotion to ensure quality control of operations.
  7. Collaborate with the on-site merchandising manager to support execution excellence at the site level.
  8. Support the implementation of merchandising programs on sites (planograms, promotions, signage, displays, product availability, and sales tools).
  9. Lead or collaborate on key projects, including site openings or conversions, and oversee training of new sites.
  10. Conduct operational excellence assessments and other compliance evaluations as needed.
  11. Contribute to the development of the annual budget per site to build a comprehensive territorial budget (gross margin, food sales, store sales, volume, and operating expenses).
  12. Monitor site results and implement action plans.
  13. Regularly adjust food production plans to maximize profitability through sales optimization and waste reduction.
  14. Perform ad hoc tasks as directed by the regional operations manager.
  15. Perform any other related tasks.

Candidate Profile :

  • Post-secondary education in management, with solid experience in sales, marketing, and retail.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in food services management, ideally in a multi-site environment.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in a multi-site business model, preferably in the food or convenience store industry.
  • Fluency in French (spoken and written) is considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and negotiation ability.
  • Strong sales and marketing skills.
  • Ability to work professionally under pressure.
  • Decision-making skills based on reliable data, considering all perspectives, and demonstrating fairness.
  • Knowledge of on-site operations – ability to enforce safety standards and company standards.
  • Financial management – results-oriented in P&L and budgeting.
  • Computer skills – proficiency in Excel, Word, accounting systems, email.
  • This position requires a person capable of performing under pressure. The work is mainly field-based with frequent client interactions.
  • Willingness to travel (50% to 75% of the time) with overnight stays as needed. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
