The Opportunity :

The Territory Manager is a key decision maker and primary point of contact on all operational aspects of approximately 19 Company Owned Retail locations in Mid North Ontario, covering areas such as Whitby, Barrie, Kawartha’s, Muskoka’s, and surrounding regions. The TM owns HSE, champions operational excellence, manages direct reporting of sites, and is responsible for the performance & development of Retailers by providing leadership and aligning them with Parkland’s vision.

This role involves leading execution, collaborating with external partners and internal stakeholders such as marketing, merchandising, loyalty, and other retail leads. The TM is responsible for building and developing the Retailer pipeline, focusing on recruiting best-in-class retailers to grow retail sites. The role is largely field-based, requiring significant travel and daily customer interfaces. The CORO TM must be a strong leader, able to perform under pressure, drive accountability, and possess high financial acumen to manage all aspects of each site’s P&L.

Responsibilities :
  • Champion Parkland’s HS&E programs to ensure all sites operate safely and comply with environmental and food safety regulations.
  • Lead Retailer recruitment, including creating a strong pipeline through selection, training, onboarding, and performance development, providing leadership and coaching.
  • Review markets strategically and create action plans to meet financial targets through sales optimization in C-Store and fuel volumes, ensuring compliance with national retail programs.
  • Own the P&L for each site, focusing on top-line sales, OPEX, MG&A, EBITDA, and cost controls such as gross margin, food costs, waste, labor, and repairs.
  • Understand fuel performance and market dynamics to drive traffic and sales both at the forecourt and backcourt.
  • Manage daily operations, leading initiatives in food sales, convenience merchandise, fuel, and brand promotion, ensuring quality control.
  • Collaborate with the Field Merchandising Manager to support merchandising execution, including planograms, promotions, signage, displays, and product availability.
  • Lead and support key projects, site openings, and training for new or converted sites.
  • Conduct Operational Excellence and compliance evaluations as needed.
  • Assist in developing the annual operating budget at the site and territory levels, including gross margin, sales, volume, and expenses.
  • Monitor site results and implement action plans to improve performance.
  • Adjust food production plans to maximize profitability through sales and waste management.
  • Complete ad-hoc assignments as directed by the Regional Operations Manager.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements :
  • Post-secondary education in management, with a solid background in retail, sales, and marketing.
  • 1-3 years of food service management experience, preferably in a multi-unit environment.
  • 5-8 years of retail experience within a multi-unit business, ideally in food or convenience stores.
  • French language skills (oral and written) are an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and assertive sales skills.
  • Ability to perform professionally under pressure and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to enforce safety and operational standards.
  • Financial management skills, including P&L and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and accounting systems.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50%-75%), with a valid driver’s license and clean abstract.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
